There are an estimated 33 million smallholder farmers in Africa who collectively feed up to 70% of the continent’s population. We’re unlocking their potential to ensure we can sustain the expected 10 billion global population by 2050.
Africa is a severely underutilized agricultural resource.
On average, global crop yields have been steadily increasing since the 1960s. However, yields across Africa have stayed largely stagnant. Today, the average across Africa is half that of India and one-fifth of the yields in the U.S.
Smallholder farmers lack the tools and technology they need to escape this stagnation. Vunatec is working to change that.
Our Services
We support farmers every step of the way, from forming collectives and delivering group training to providing market linkages and financial services. Our ultimate aim is to reduce post-harvest losses from their typical rates of over 40% to below 10%.
